The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) chapter at UC Davis is a community of over 160 students interested in civil and environmental engineering. ASCE provides students a low-cost opportunity to build connections within the industry and gain invaluable experience to help inform their future careers. We are primarily student-run, and our success relies heavily on our sponsors and donors.

Most of our funding goes towards supplies, registration, and travel for our members and seven project teams. Every ASCE member is also actively involved in at least one project team, each of which focuses on offering students experience in a unique aspect of the field of civil engineering, such as water sanitation and construction management. These project teams compete against teams from other universities at various regional and national competitions. Teams design, troubleshoot, and construct a finished project, a practical application of the culmination of their gained classroom knowledge and months of work. Two of our project teams, Steel Bridge and Concrete Canoe, also advanced to nationals this past year.

We also use our funding to organize various academic and social events for students throughout the year, including contractor-led tours of significant engineering projects, resume and interview workshops, networking opportunities with engineering professionals at our annual career fair, intramural sports, volunteering, and a mentorship program.
