Animal Science Goat Dairy

Be part of history! Slated to be built on the site adjacent to the Animal Science Goat Barn and Research Facility, the Noel-Nordfelt Animal Science Goat Dairy and Creamery will be the first full-service, goat dairy and creamery built on a major land-grant, teaching and research university in the United States. The new facility will meet Grade A standards for milk processing. Partially funded by an endowment established in the 1980’s from funds donated by George and Helen Huber of Noel Dairy Goats and Wes and Betty Nordfeldt of Laurelwood acres, we need to raise additional funds to complete the project.

The Dairy and Creamery will be a hub for education, production, and research in the manufacture and marketing of humane certified, locally-sourced, sustainably produced goat cheese coupled with continued research and goat management advances in nutrition, welfare, genetics, health and reproduction. The 2,100 square foot building will include a milking parlor, milk room, clean in place room, and an aged cheese room. Naming opportunities are available for all of the rooms.

Your gift to this fund, no matter how large or how small, will further the hands-on teaching that occurs in the Department of Animal Science at UC Davis. All donors will be acknowledged on an honor wall at the completed creamery.

We are training the industry leaders of tomorrow. Thank you!
