Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases are progressive, debilitating disorders impacting both patients and loved ones. Research progresses, but there are still no cures. We discovered a key enzyme in a regulatory pathway in the brain. By inhibiting this enzyme, we reduce neuroinflammation and pain and block Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s symptoms and pathology in rodent models and stem cells from human Parkinson’s patients. One of our compounds is in human clinical trials. Gifts will accelerate research on the fundamental biology of neuroinflammation and speed our efforts to translate to humans these promising drugs for preventing, treating, and curing Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
