The Joseph M. Ogawa Research Fund is an endowment set up to memorialize Dr. Joseph Ogawa, a world-class plant pathologist and a friend of agricultural industries of California. He became an internationally recognized expert on pre- and postharvest diseases of stone fruit trees, nut crops and tomatoes. Joe Ogawa was a faculty member for 37 years before his retirement in 1991, though his emeritus status didn't keep him from his research and teaching efforts.

The fund encourages the research and teaching of tree fruit and nut crops, as well as fresh market tomatoes. Students and post-graduate researchers may apply for awards from the endowment to support their research projects on fruits or nuts.

Joe's wife, Margie, passed away on July 24, 2015. Gifts in her memory may also be made to this fund.
