Student-athlete at UC Davis typically have a minimum of three academic advisors: an athletic academic advisor assigned by sport, a college advisor, and a major advisor (if the student has a declared major). The athletic academic advisors work with the student-athlete on their assigned teams from the time that they arrive on campus until they graduate from UC Davis.
The STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAAC) is part of the Academic Advising unit. The leadership group within Intercollegiate Athletics provides feedback to the athletic director on issues of importance to student-athletes, works to promote the welfare of UC Davis intercollegiate student-athletes, and encourages participation in community outreach activities. SAAC coordinates several social events for intercollegiate student-athletes each year in addition to SAAC-sponsored community service. Every team has 1-2 representatives to SAAC chosen by the head coach; we encourage freshmen or new transfers to get involved in SAAC so they have a voice in the athletic department.
