For more than four decades, Dr. Karen Sigvardt was a trailblazer in neuroscience and made landmark discoveries exploring cognition and functional brain networks in patients with Parkinson’s disease. As a talented researcher, Karen was also a generous mentor and role model, especially for young female scientists.
In honor and memory of her beloved partner, Audrey Webb established the Karen Sigvardt, Ph.D. Neuroscience Fellowship to support graduate students in the Center for Neuroscience’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Program, which offers education, training and outreach opportunities to increase access, mentorship and success for underrepresented groups in neuroscience. Contributions to the Fellowship will provide a stipend to one student each year, with the opportunity to reapply for continued support, to be used for the graduate student’s research expenses.
