To honor Morris Wong, his family has established this memorial fund in the UC Davis College of Biological Sciences. Born in Yuba City, California, and raised in Sacramento, the youngest child of immigrants from Guangdong province in China, Dr. Wong attended UC Davis from 1961 to 1963, majoring in biological sciences as a transfer student from Sacramento City College. Some of Morris’s fondest memories of his time at Davis include working on one of the university’s first electron microscopes, doorless microwave ovens and enjoying the characteristic “eau de bovine” during the hot summers. His relationship with high school sweetheart Kendaline (KC), who also attended Davis from 1962 to 1963, deepened during this time.
Morris went from UC Davis to what is now the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1967. Dr. Wong practiced general dentistry for over 40 years in South San Francisco. While he taught both clinically and pre-clinically at the dental school for over four decades, Dental Anatomy was his favorite class. His wife Kendaline and sons Brian and Jonathan (UCD ‘96) have asked that contributions in Morris Wong’s memory to this fund go to support first-generation students majoring in biological sciences.
