“He believed deeply that with exchanges we would have a more peaceful world. We have to get to know people, spend time with them, and you will have a different view of other people.”
Chancellor Emeritus Larry Vanderhoef is fondly remembered at UC Davis and by alumni all over the world for his many achievements as chancellor of the university over his 25-year career at UC Davis. He had a particular passion for building relations between the university and Taiwan, visiting frequently both during his time as chancellor and after retirement. In his memory, alumni and friends in Taiwan have come together to create two endowed funds that will carry on his legacy of nurturing the academic environment in Taiwan.
Larry Vanderhoef Collaborative Research Fund 方德厚合作研究基金
This endowed fund will support collaborative research projects that bring together UC Davis and Taiwanese researchers and scholars to make advances in fields of study that are of high relevance to society and humanity.
In the spirit of Larry Vanderhoef’s vision and belief in the value of academic exchange, the following scholarships can also be named by an individual, a company or foundation. When you indicate your interest in establishing one of these funds, a campaign officer will get in touch with you to set up your named endowment in perpetuity.
