Gifts to Biodiversity Museum Day provide needed financial support for this unique, cross-campus effort. The event occurs on the Saturday of Presidents Day weekend in mid-February making it possible for visitors to travel to Davis for this event. The event is free to the public. Over 250 volunteers make this event possible for more than 4000 visitors.
Founded in 2011, UC Davis Biodiversity Museum Day is an annual event for the public to learn about nature, science and the work of UC Davis around the globe. Biodiversity Museum Day focuses on natural history showcasing the university’s critically important, research and teaching collections. Visitors get an unprecedented up-close and personal experience with organisms and objects from around the world and they get to have rich conversations with UC Davis students, staff, and professors who are excited to share their discoveries. This event has grown to include 13 collections from across 9 departments and includes microbes to plants to mammals.
