The Davis Humanities Institute (DHI) fosters research and collaborations within and beyond the humanities and arts, empowering scholars, students, and communities to engage with the most pressing global challenges. It promotes vital dialogue and partnerships that explore the cultures and societies of our home in the Central Valley, as well as our regional and international connections.
The DHI relaunched in January 2026 after a comprehensive visioning process, designed to reestablish it as campus hub for cross-disciplinary innovation and community engagement. Its newly refined vision prioritizes supporting critical and pioneering humanities research; incubating innovative research and curricular directions; and celebrating the humanities and arts through high-visibility events. DHI programs on campus and in the Davis community highlight the importance of the arts and humanities in our daily lives through research, teaching, and public engagement.
