The Hy and Kay Ikeda Memorial Award was established to honor the memory of Hy and Kay Ikeda.

Hifumi ("Hy") and Kikuye ("Kay") Ikeda had a fig and almond ranch north of Clovis, Fresno County, California. Hy also operated a custom tractor and dump truck service. They were very involved in the community, helping establish the Clovis Judo Club and supporting the Japanese American Citizens League, the oldest and largest Asian American civil rights organization in America. They raised six children, George, Bill, Gerald, Dale, Irene and Sheryl. Dale attended King Hall, Class of 1973, and became the first Asian American Superior Court Judge for the County of Fresno. Hy and Kay were interned at the Fresno Assembly Center and Jerome War Relocation Center during WWII. Nevertheless, they never lost faith in America and the American Dream. Hy was inducted into the Clovis Hall of Fame in 1977 for his contributions to the community he loved.
