This scholarship was established by Barry Klein, UC Davis Emeritus Vice Chancellor for Research and Emeritus Department of Physics and Astronomy, to honor the life of his sister Elinore. Elinore B. Klein (1937-2016) was a principal in the law firm Acito & Klein in New York City. As a pathbreaking woman attorney she was renowned for her skills in legal strategy and courtroom effectiveness. Always remembering that she was a first-generation American, she had a big heart to help the disadvantaged and those who struggle to have successful careers and lives. Her family is very proud of her accomplishments and create this scholarship so that her memory lives on through the successes of students in King Hall.

The Elinore B. Klein Scholarship will be awarded to a student in any year of study at the UC Davis School of Law with a preference for students who are the first in their family to graduate from high school and/or are the first in their family to attend college or law school, and/or self-identify as an immigrant, and/or are undocumented (or similar designation), and/or are from an underrepresented population.
