The Coalition for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (CDEI) exists to 1) increase the numbers of traditionally underrepresented students at King Hall and 2) ensure that traditionally underrepresented students are well-supported during their time at King Hall.
To accomplish these goals, CDEI adopts a community mentorship model whereby King Hall CDEI members are both mentors to undergraduate students, and also have upper-division law students or alumni mentors themselves. CDEI engages in undergraduate student recruitment efforts that include pre-law workshops, mentorship programs, and admitted student receptions. CDEI sponsors outreach and networking events with King Hall students, faculty, alumni, and professionals. CDEI administers ongoing and institutionalized implicit bias, cultural sensitivity, or cultural competency trainings for the King Hall community. CDEI sponsors student-led presentations and invites guest speakers to attend and contribute, for the purpose of promoting the success of King Hall students. CDEI serves as an umbrella organization for campus affinity groups to create an inclusive environment where all identities are valued, supported, and able to flourish. CDEI collaborates with other law schools and graduate programs on professional events, mixers, and symposiums.
Our overall mission is to create an atmosphere of solidarity at King Hall in a way that improves the quality of education, diversity, and inclusion of the legal field. All are welcome to join as members. CDEI events are open to all King Hall students and community members.
We welcome alumni to share opportunities with diverse King Hall students by contacting us at [email protected].
