Help support pediatric patients and their families in the hospital and outpatient clinics express themselves through art. Alongside a trained art therapist, patients use self-expression and art-making to explore loss, promote self-esteem, build autonomy, and cultivate developmentally appropriate coping skills. Art therapy in the pediatric setting helps children and their families to cope with illness and the hospital experience. It allows children to take an active part in their own healing. Art therapy places the value on art-making as a tool for insight and discovery. Making art does not require words to express feelings.
Art Therapists provide family-centered care by facilitating support groups and individual services to not only patients, but also their families and caregivers. The Art Therapy program conducts general art groups, bereavement support groups, and support groups for children of adult patients. Your generous donation would help continue to build this program and expand its services to more individuals in need.
