Fragile X-associated Tremor/Ataxia Syndrome (FXTAS) is an “adult onset” neurodegenerative disorder, affecting carriers of Fragile X Syndrome. FXTAS affects the neurologic system and progresses at varying rates in different individuals.

FXTAS was first described in 2001 by Dr. Randi Hagerman and her colleagues at the UC Davis MIND Institute.

John Menke began having symptoms over 15 years ago. He suffered from cognitive decline, and from many falls resulting in broken bones, some of which required surgery. Your gift in memory of John Menke will support the Fragile X-associated Tremor/Ataxia Syndrome (FXTAS) research at the UC Davis MIND Institute.
