The Sleep Medicine Education and Research Fund supports initiatives that deepen our understanding of sleep disorders and expand the reach of that knowledge to clinicians, researchers, and the public. The fund advances cutting-edge research across the full spectrum of sleep medicine—including basic science, translational studies, clinical research, and large-scale data science—while also exploring its intersection with chronic disease.
Our mission is to improve patient outcomes and advance population health by addressing sleep disorders, which are highly prevalent and profoundly impact every aspect of daily life. By investing in research on common conditions such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia, restless legs syndrome, and insomnia, we aim to reduce the significant burden of illness experienced by millions worldwide.
Sleep disorders do not exist in isolation. Because they disrupt breathing and restorative sleep, they are closely linked to a wide range of chronic conditions, including neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, metabolic dysfunction, and cancer risk. Understanding these complex relationships is essential to improving longevity, enhancing quality of life, and reducing human suffering.
Your support helps drive the discoveries that will transform sleep health—and, in turn, overall health—for generations to come.
