Your generous donation in memory of Shawn Moss will support the Substance Use Navigation (SUN) team at UC Davis Health. Your support will provide life-changing resources for patients who receive services from the Substance Use Navigator team, including help to remove financial barriers for those seeking treatment for substance use-related illnesses. Funds will also support SUN program staff's ongoing training and education needs.
Shawn graduated from UC Davis in 1992 with a degree in Human Development and was a loving father who devoted his time and energy to creating lasting memories with his family.
A man of many interests, Shawn found immense joy in sports, including his career as a collegiate athlete and later coaching youth sports, where he positively influenced the lives of many young athletes. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for camping and fishing, where he connected with nature and created countless memories with family and friends.
Tragically, after battling substance use for many years, Shawn succumbed to the depths of this chronic illness despite the continued efforts and support from friends and family who tried to help. Shawn struggled with mental health combined with suspected Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), compounding the impacts of his illness. While we grieve his loss, we remember the loving soul he once was who touched the lives of those around him.
