Your generosity in memory of Dr. Levy will support teaching, research, and patient care at the UC Davis Eye Center.

Dr. Levy was born on March 9, 1931, in the Bronx, NY. He graduated from the Bronx High School of Science in 1948 and received his B.A. from New York University in 1952. He went on to pursue his medical degree from New York Medical College in 1956, and medical residency in ophthalmology at Wills Eye Hospital. He served as a Captain in the US Air Force at Mather Air Force Base from 1958-1960.

A distinguished ophthalmologist, his talents could have taken him to New York City or Los Angeles, but he chose to practice right here in Sacramento. He started his private practice in 1962 and was also a Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the UC Davis Eye Center. His career spanned over 50 years, until he retired in 2019.

Dr. Levy was a mentor to many faculty members and trainees at the UC Davis Eye Center. He was deeply committed to teaching modern cataract surgery to the UC Davis residents, and that remains a vital and enduring part of his legacy.

For decades, he supported ophthalmology in our community, not only through clinical excellence, but through his generosity, vision, and mentorship.
