Middle East/South Asia Studies (ME/SA) provides students with a place to learn about the languages, cultures, and societies of this diverse and dynamic region from an interdisciplinary perspective. Students can learn about the Middle East and South Asia through the ME/SA major or minors, courses in ME/SA languages and ME/SA Studies, and other affiliated courses around campus. ME/SA features language programs with experienced and accomplished teachers of Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi/Urdu, Persian, and Punjabi. ME/SA Studies and affiliated faculty teach, do research, and supervise undergraduate and graduate student research on languages and cultures of the Middle East, South Asia, North Africa, and/or Central Asia in the fields of Middle East/South Asia Studies, anthropology, art history, Asian-American Studies, comparative literature, history, law, politics, and religious studies.
