Affectionately called the “Country Doctor,” Benjamin Franklin Green provided medical care to ailed patients in the rural communities of Viola, Pottsville, Folsomdale and the outlying areas of Graves County, Kentucky from 1889 to 1918.
In honor of his great grandfather, Dr. William Green and his spouse, Martín Palomar established the Benjamin Franklin Green, M.D. Scholarship to support the Community Health Scholars Program, which trains medical student leaders to identify, understand, and serve the unique health needs of California’s rural, urban and valley communities. Most students in this program represent and/or have a deep passion for caring for underserved communities.
