Nurse-Led Mobile Clinic Support Fund

A new program at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis brings care to underserved populations while educating students on how to provide holistic care for vulnerable populations. Deb Bakerjian, associate dean for practice, leads the new Integrative Nurse-Led Mobile Clinic.

The clinic on wheels is designed to provide high quality, evidence-based health care to those living in urban and rural communities and lack access to care. The mobile aspect of care is people moving to where patients are. The focus is people who are unhoused, are refugees, are from low socioeconomic circumstances or are unaccompanied children. Our services will cover local shelters and camps for unhoused individuals and will be teaming up with veterinary, literacy, and housing programs

The project is staffed by the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing faculty. The mobile clinic also offers opportunities for the school’s registered nurse, family nurse practitioner, psych mental health nurse practitioner and physician assistant students to experience caring for those who need it most.

The overarching goal is to improve health outcomes and health equity for these underrepresented populations. It leverages the experience of UC Davis Health faculty and the School of Nursing’s partnerships with the Sacramento County Public Health Center.
