High-Speed Electric Research and Teaching Vessel Fund

In honor of the founding Director of the Tahoe Environmental Research Center Dr. Geoff Schladow and his transformative impact at Lake Tahoe, we invite you to participate in the High-Speed Electric Research Vessel campaign.

Over a 19-year period, Professor S. Geoffrey Schladow launched TERC and has nurtured and elevated UC Davis’s impact on research and education at Lake Tahoe, making it a world leader in freshwater sciences and lake stewardship. Dr. Schladow has impacted a generation of researchers, educators, students and the general public at Lake Tahoe and places far beyond its watershed.

We invite you to join us today in honoring Dr. Schladow leadership with a gift to the High-Speed Electric Research and Teaching Vessel fund. A new, clean, energy efficient vessel was part of Dr. Schladow’s vision for Lake Tahoe. The vessel’s mission will be to better enable TERC’s research, teaching and public education while minimizing the environmental impact on the lake.

Gifts will fund the design, construction, and equipping of an all-electric, carbon-fiber vessel, and allow for it to be permanently moored in Tahoe City, CA. The vessel will provide a unique teaching opportunity for students in all aspects of lake science. Its high speed and modern, on-board instrumentation will greatly advance TERC's on-lake research infrastructure. Public outreach and education will be a core part of the new vessel’s mission.
