UC Davis and its Institute of Transportation Studies (ITS-Davis) lost an inspirational leader, colleague, and friend when Dr. Tom Turrentine passed away on June 2, 2020. In mourning this tremendous loss there is a strong desire, throughout the clean transportation community, to honor Tom's memory by creating a fund to recognize his exceptional contributions to a sustainable planet.
Join Us! We invite Tom's friends and colleagues to help support the Turrentine Fund for Social Science Transportation Research ("Turrentine Fund") which will honor Tom's passions and critical contributions to the clean transportation movement. The Turrentine Fund has the potential to change countless students' lives and launch value-based and impactful careers. Our aspiration is not small, nor should it be to honor someone of Tom's creativity and influence. We envision an initial fundraising goal of $250,000 to create an endowment that will provide annual support in perpetuity.
This Fund will be used for graduate student support, including student research, as well as events and initiatives fostering conversation and collaboration with external scholars. The ITS-Davis Director will ensure the fund is in keeping with the areas Tom pioneered and loved, bringing new minds from diverse backgrounds, including those with a social science background, into the field of consumer preference research for environmental planning and policy.
