The Undergraduate Research Support Fund empowers motivated UC Davis undergraduate students to gain hands-on experience in transportation research. Through collaboration with ITS-Davis faculty, professional researchers, and graduate students, undergraduates participate directly in impactful research projects while developing valuable skills that set them apart early in their careers.
This fund prioritizes student engagement in research, including support for the highly successful ITS-Davis Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program. In addition to conducting research alongside world-class faculty and teams, students benefit from field trips and research seminars that broaden their perspectives beyond their individual projects. These opportunities immerse undergraduates in the full scope of transportation research, from policy to technology, and from local to global contexts.
Many of these students continue their research at UC Davis, pursue graduate studies, or launch careers in transportation-related fields, carrying with them the experience, confidence, and network built through this fund’s support.
