STEM for Girls invites 10-12 year-old girls and gender-expansive youth from the Woodland and Sacramento areas to the University of California, Davis for a free full day immersion into science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) facilitated through hands on workshops and interactive lab tours lead by UC Davis graduate students and faculty. Workshops and tours have included engineering snap circuit doorbells, understanding the ins and outs of a dairy cow, and engaging with the inner workings of the human brain. During STEM for Girls, young scholars are exposed to a wide variety of STEM fields, build confidence in their abilities to participate in STEM, and are introduced to relatable and accessible STEM role models in the form of UC Davis graduate and undergraduates in STEM, who serve as volunteers and TEAM Leaders.

We believe in the brilliant minds of young people and strive to empower young girls and gender-expansive youth who have not always seen someone like them in STEM, see themselves in a hardhat, lab coat, or out in the field conducting research. STEM for Girls is an opportunity for young people to be empowered and to fall in love with STEM.
