The Class of 2017 is coming together to honor the memory of Mike Maynard, who demonstrated incredible kindness, empathy, and support to his fellow classmates throughout their time together at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. He was a leader in the purest sense--never looking for recognition or accolades, but always there to lend a helping hand to a classmate in need. This was especially true when it came to challenging anatomy labs and teaching surgical skills, for which he had a natural talent and gift. After graduation he went on to use his surgical expertise to aid one of the most vulnerable populations of veterinary patients, practicing exclusively shelter medicine.
The Michael A. Maynard, DVM ‘17 Memorial Scholarship will support one student who has an interest in shelter medicine or surgery who has life experiences with overcoming barriers such as those traditionally faced by members of the LGBQTIA community.
As of May 2023, your class has raised a total of $48,771.97 towards the goal of $50,000.
