What We Do

The One Health Institute is active across the globe, navigating the relationship between animals, people, and the environment in order to solve issues of health and conservation. The Institute grew out of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine’s deep commitment to the One Health approach: recognizing that the health of domestic animals, wildlife, and people are inextricably linked with each other and the environment.

The One Health Institute is home to the Karen C. Drayer Wildlife Health Center, and operates the California Raptor Center and UC Center of Expertise in One Health. Our centers, programs, projects, and initiatives allow us to focus our efforts on the species and issues that need our help the most.

Led by Mike Ziccardi DVM MPVM PhD Hon. ACZM, Executive Director of OHI and staffed by a team of scientists and educators, the One Health Institute provides innovation and leadership to UC Davis, the UC system, state and federal agencies, and to our international partners. (For more information on the One Health Institute and our projects, visit our website at http://www.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/ohi/index.cfm.)

How You Can Help

Your support of the activities of the One Health Institute ensures that our team of professionals can continue to solve the complex problems that form at the nexus of animals and humans. The organization strives to provide more support for current programs while finding new projects and areas of research to develop and pursue. Your donation allows us to continue our work, helping animals and humans balance our relationship with each other and the environment.
