What We Do

The SeaDoc Society is an organization dedicated to protecting the health of marine wildlife and their ecosystems through science and education. Established in 1999 by the Karen C. Drayer Wildlife Health Center, the SeaDoc Society continues to conduct and sponsor scientific research in the inland waters of the Pacific Northwest. Our efforts focus on understanding emerging threats to the health of our oceans, particularly the Salish Sea, the bi-national inland body of water shared by the United States and Canada. Our ability to diagnose concerns and administer solutions to ocean and ecosystem issues has also brought us to the California and Baja California coasts with the Lost Fishing Gear program.

Our research is shared with agencies, governments, and individuals who influence decisions that impact the Salish Sea and its millions of residents. This collaborative effort allows us to inform local policy, conduct research, and educate the public about the needs of an ecosystem. (For more information about the organization, as well as past and current projects, visit our website at www.seadocsociety.org.)

How You Can Help

When you donate to SeaDoc, you support both our cutting edge science and our efforts to ensure accurate scientific information is available to decision makers in both the United States and Canada. You help us protect the Salish Sea, an ecosystem supporting 6 million people and teeming with thousands of animal species.
