This award was established in honor and memory of School of Law alum C. Michael Cowett, class of 1972. Michael practiced law for over 38 years representing public agencies, including water, sewer, and irrigation districts, cities as well as counties, and special districts including transit districts and port authorities.
This award supports a 2L (second year Law student) or 3L student dedicated to public agency law, including water law, environmental justice, public lands law, and public interest law. This Award shall be based on need and merit and consideration should be given to a student from California or a student who plans to practice and stay in California.
