The Institute for Dissemination, Engagement and Access (The IDEA) is a multiplier initiative at UC Davis that accelerates impactful work in recruitment, retention, and advancement —expanding access to opportunity and excellence for all.

As a hub for partnerships that strengthen workforce and educational pathways, The IDEA supports research, shares evidence-based practices, and advances long-term success across campus and beyond. Through The IDEA, UC Davis transforms bold vision into action!

The IDEA powers efforts like:

• The Promise Engineering Institute, which fosters pathways to the professoriate and academic leadership in STEM through intergenerational mentorship.
• Aggie Black Excellence, which elevates Black History and Futures, and strengthens visibility and belonging.
• The K–16 Collaborative, which builds partnerships across educational systems to improve early college access and readiness.

Without sustained investment, promising ideas risk remaining pilots, effective programs struggle to scale, and practitioners miss opportunities to learn from what works. Support for The IDEA ensures that innovative projects receive the resources they need to grow, successful efforts are sustained over time, and evidence-based practices reach the people and communities who need them most.
